SEAGUAR TARGETS FLY ANGLERS WITH EXPANDED FLUORO AND NYLON OFFERINGS
New York, NY (July 2016)
It was 1992 when the movie A River Runs Through It told the true story of two boys growing up in rural Montana, spending their mornings in school and religious studies while devoting their afternoons to fly fishing trout in the Blackfoot River. With breathtaking cinematography and a captivating life-lesson message, the movie captured the attention of America and propelled interest in fly fishing across the country.
It was about the same time that Seaguar, the inventor of fluorocarbon fishing lines, introduced its first fluorocarbon tippet material and knotless leaders to fly anglers. Now Seaguar is expanding its fly fishing portfolio with a broader selection of tippets and leaders. “We’ve had our foot in the fly fishing waters with a modest offering for more than two decades,” says Gerry Benedicto, Seaguar General Manager. “A lot has changed in the marketplace and in our capabilities since then, and we felt the time was right for a more robust, dedicated program to serve fly fishing retailers and anglers.”
The new Seaguar “On the Fly” product line includes both fluorocarbon and nylon tippet material and packaged leaders. All products are available in sizes from 7X to 1X.

Grand Max® and Max Fluorocarbon Tippet Material are made with two custom 100% Seaguar fluorocarbon resins that are fused in an exclusive process into one strong and sensitive line. Both are fast-sinking with low-stretch and virtually invisible underwater. The portfolio includes a 9’ Knotless Fluorocarbon Leader ─ a Seaguar exclusive ─ which is designed with exceptional knot and impact strength. Rounding out the lineup are new Nylon Tippet Material and 9’ Nylon Leaders that are soft & supple with low memory and built with the best balance of tensile and knot strength. All items ship to retail stores in the fall of 2016. “The expanded program allows Seaguar to serve as a better resource to both retailers and anglers,” added Benedicto. “While there is a growing demand for premium fluorocarbon lines in the fly fishing market, some anglers prefer the properties of nylon. Now they can get the best of both from Seaguar.”
